This website is operated by Norra Operations Ltd., doing business as Värra Thermal ("Värra", "we", "us"), 112 - 3800 Capozzi Road, Kelowna, British Columbia V1W 3L2. We are a British Columbia company and we handle personal information under the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia), the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation. This policy explains what we collect on this website, why, who we share it with and the choices you have.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you join our email list we collect your email address, the date you signed up and the page you signed up from. If you contact us by email we keep the message and your contact details so we can reply.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our hosting provider and analytics tools record technical information such as your IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and browser type, the pages you view, how you reached the site and how you move through it. Some of this is collected using cookies and similar technologies, described below.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 through this website.

Why we collect it

We use your information to send you the emails you asked for, including our opening date and early access to booking; to answer your enquiries; to run, secure and improve the website; to understand how people find and use the site; and to reach people who may be interested in Värra through advertising, including on social platforms. We only collect what we need for these purposes and we do not sell personal information.

Consent

We rely on your consent. Joining our list is express consent to receive email from Värra. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time by using it or by emailing us. Withdrawing consent stops future emails but does not affect anything done before you withdrew it. Using the site with cookies enabled is taken as consent to the cookies described below; you can change that in your browser at any time.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics, deployed through Google Tag Manager, to measure how the site is used. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data on our behalf; IP addresses are not stored in our reports. You can opt out with the Google Analytics browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

We use the Meta Pixel, which sets cookies and shares limited information about your visit with Meta Platforms so that we can measure our advertising and show Värra ads to people who have visited this site or who resemble them. If you have a Facebook or Instagram account, Meta may connect this with your account under its own privacy policy. You can adjust this in your Meta ad preferences or by disabling cookies.

Your browser lets you refuse or delete cookies. The site works without them, though some measurement will not.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who process it for us under contract: Klaviyo (email list and email delivery), Google (analytics, tag management, and business email and document storage), Meta (advertising measurement and audiences), Vercel (website hosting and server logs) and Sanity (website content management). We also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or safety, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply.

Where your information is stored

Our service providers store and process information on servers outside Canada, mainly in the United States. While it is there it is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. We use providers that commit contractually to protect personal information to a standard comparable to Canadian law.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address while you remain subscribed and for a short period afterwards so we can honour your unsubscribe. Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and for our records. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Where information is needed to meet a legal obligation we keep it for as long as that obligation lasts.

How we protect it

We limit access to personal information to the people who need it, use providers with recognised security controls, and protect our own accounts with strong authentication. No system is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask how it has been used and who it has been shared with, and withdraw your consent. Write to the address below. We will respond within 30 days, and we may ask you to verify your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

Changes

We will update this policy as the website grows, including before we begin taking bookings and payments online. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes will be flagged on this page.
